Here’s my response:

I get frustrated when I get comments like this because this is exactly the kind of attitude that PREVENTS people from making the transition from being a good player to becoming a great player.

No matter how good you are, EVERYONE who plays poker will get more than their share of bad beats. This is something you are going to have to accept if you want to keep playing the game.

If you can’t do that, then you should probably quit now and play a game like chess where you can’t get unlucky.

You say when you get a hand like JJ or QQ, someone picks up AA or KK. Why don’t you talk about all the times when you pick up AA or KK and take out someone with JJ or QQ? You can’t tell me that THIS has never happened to you.

Give me a situation where I can get all the chips in as a strong favorite, and I’ll take it every time. If I lose, I lose… but if I keep getting in these +ev situations, I WILL win in the long run.

Just because someone hits a one-outer on you, that doesn’t mean you should start believing that all the online sites are rigged. That kind of thinking doesn’t serve you in the least.

This goes back to the advice I keep telling people, and that is to make sure you’re playing optimally and that you are not results oriented.

As long as you can play optimally against your opponents and stick to a few basic bankroll management rules, you will have a formula for long term success.

If you have poor basic bankroll management skills, you’ll go broke every time no matter how good you are.

The good news for those of you who are willing to “roll with the punches” and take your beats like every other good poker player, you are putting yourself ahead of everyone who is unwilling. If everyone had what it takes to become a great player, this game would be a lot tougher than it is.

And if any of you think I have an advantage when I play since I’m a pro, think about this. Everyone can buy my videos and learn how I play, but I have no idea how any of my opponents play. To deal with this, I just have to learn as much as I can about my opponents and adjust how I play against them on an individual basis.

Sure, some people will try to take shots at me, but this just increases variance. That’s both good and bad. They will get it in bad more often, but they will suck out more often. So if you can’t handle the suckouts you’re experiencing now, just know that it gets even tougher as you start to move up the ranks.

One more thing. You talk about me playing KT in 1st or 2nd position and I don’t know what tight is… watch this video at 1:40 in:

In another video, I reraise steal with KT over a raise, but this is very deep in a mtt, and I do this primarily because the stack sizes are ideal for maximum fold equity… and sure enough, they guy folded to my shove.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to prove to all of you that you can build a bankroll starting at low stakes, even against players who throw their money around like maniacs. It just takes a little patience and the discipline to stick to a simple bankroll management strategy.

I don’t know of many other pros who are willing to grind it out at the low stakes in order to teach players how to break through and become winning players.

3 Free Coaching/Hand History Review Videos

This freeroll will be hosted on Victory Poker… if you don’t have an account yet, you can sign up for free, and it only takes a couple minutes.

To sign up for a free Victory Poker account, go here:

After you sign up, download and install the software on your computer.

Run the software and log in.

After you log in, here’s how to sign up for the freeroll:

Click on “Tournaments”.

Click on the “Freeroll/Specials” Tab.

Make sure your Filter is unchecked.

Click on the “Date” column heading once or twice until you see the small arrow to the left of “Date” pointing down. This will sort the tournaments in chronological order so that the tournaments happening the soonest will appear at the top.

Find the tournament called “$100 Bounty Freeroll” with a date of July 25 17:35 and click on it. Confirm that the tournament ID is #1258474 and then click on “REGISTRATION”.

Click on “REGISTER”.

Enter the password “blueshark” (with no quotes).

That’s it! Then just make sure you show up THIS Sunday July 25 at 5:30pm Eastern (2:30pm Pacific) and bring your A game.

I’m also giving everyone who signs up for the freeroll 3 free coaching/hand history review videos I made for some of my prior students.

These videos are NOT in the Poker Video Vault or Extreme Video Vault, so they are not available to the public.

All you have to do to get these videos is:

1. Sign up for the freeroll.

2. Comment on this blog with your Victory Poker nickname.

3. Play in the freeroll.

After the freeroll is over, I will email everyone who played in the freeroll with a link to access your free videos.

How to Claim Your Free Review Videos (If You Make the Final Table)
If you make the final table, here is how to claim the free review videos I will be making from this tournament:

1. Comment on this blog post with your Victory Poker nickname and the comment “I made the final table!”

I will email you with a link to access your free review videos once they’re ready.
